Sporting estates

19 Scottish sporting estates, and what the registers say about who holds them. 12 are held through a company registered at the estate, 2 through another route, and 5 are not established.

Land ownership in Scotland is not published as a dataset. This page is assembled from the registers that do exist: a company whose registered office is the estate, the officers filed against that company, the charity register where a trust holds the land, and the register of persons holding a controlled interest in land, which is searchable free by postcode and by name. A registered office at an estate proves how the estate is administered and not who owns the land: the title itself is a paid search of the Land Register of Scotland, one title at a time, and Keek does not hold it. Directors are named because Companies House publishes them as officers of companies. This is not a list of every sporting estate in Scotland.

Held through a company 12

A company with its registered office at the estate, and the people filed against it. Each name opens the record, which links the company and the officers on the statutory register.

Held by another route 2

No estate company, and a different named reason: a charity, or an overseas entity that only the controlled-interest register can show.

Not established 5

Nothing found, and the record says what was searched. These are open questions rather than answers, and they are left open on purpose.

Company facts, registered offices and officers were read from Companies House on 31 October 2026, and each record links to the statutory register for the company and for each officer. Charity numbers were read from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator extract held on this site. One record quotes an entry from the register of persons holding a controlled interest in land, read in a browser on 30 October 2026.
